纯全的灵魂显出单纯
深植于心的真理，是神话语中真理的精准复刻，两者彼此契合，正如镜中映射的面容与照镜之人的面貌完全对应。
保罗对哥林多人说：“我们凭着神的圣洁和诚实，在世为人不靠人的聪明，乃靠神的恩惠，向你们更是这样”（参 林后1:12）真正的基督徒绝不会让内心屈从于头脑，也就是绝不让良心屈服于手腕与算计。因为他将自己交托给神，所以他不再惧怕人；他也不敢冒着在良心上戳出漏洞的风险，去保全自己肉体的完好无损；相反，无论发生什么，他都公开地信靠神。
然而，假冒为善的人却像见风使舵的船只，世界在他面前升起什么颜色的旗帜，他就挂出什么样的帆。如果风平浪静、视线内毫无危险，他会表现得和任何人一样敬虔；但他一发现问题，就立刻改变航向，断定任何一条能通向安全的路就是正路。但圣经说：“正直人的道是远离恶事。”（箴16:17）
深植于心的真理，是神话语中真理的精准复刻，两者彼此契合，正如镜中映射的面容与照镜之人的面貌完全对应。因此，如果神话语中的真理是和谐统一的，那么深植于心的真理——也就是客观真理在灵魂里刻下的印记——也必然是和谐统一的。纯全的基督徒在顺服上展现出三重的一致性：他在顺服的对象、顺服的主体，以及伴随顺服的各项境遇中，都保持着始终如一。
假冒为善的人也许会在某一点上触及神的律法，仅仅遵守某条合他心意的特定诫命，却忽略了其余所有的律法；但一颗纯全的心，在渴望与行动上，都会紧紧依傍全备的律法。圣经说，正直人的脚站在“平坦地方”，表明他对神的全部旨意都保持敏锐（诗26:12）。但所罗门却说，“瘸子的脚空存无用”（箴26:7），正如长短不齐的双腿无法在平坦之地站稳一样，一长一短的选择性顺服，无法走神正直的道路。
以法利赛人为例，他们佯装对某些诫命大有热心。他们禁食又祷告，然而他们的祷告不过是为了谋取猎物；当他们禁食终日之后，却藉着侵吞寡妇的家产来填饱自己的肚腹。

THE SINCERE SOUL SHOWS ITS SIMPLICITY
Truth in the heart is an exact copy of the truth in God’s Word—they agree as the face in the mirror corresponds to the face of the man who looks into it.
We have had our conversation,” Paul said to the Corinthians, “in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom” (2 Corinthians 1:12). The Christian will not subject heart to head—conscience to his policy. Because he commits himself to God he does not fear other people; and neither does he risk putting a hole in his conscience to keep his skin whole, but openly trusts God no matter what happens.
The hypocrite, though, shifts his sails and flies whatever colors the world unfurls in front of him. If the coast is clear and no danger is in sight he will appear as religious as anyone else; but no sooner does he discover a problem than he changes his course, concluding that the right road is any one which leads to safety. But “the highway of the upright is to depart from evil” (Proverbs 16:17).

Therefore if truth in the Word is harmonious, then truth in the heart, which is nothing but the impression of it, must be also. There is a threefold uniformity in the sincere Christian’s obedience. He is uniform as to the object, subject, and several circumstances which accompany his obedience.
The hypocrite may touch the law of God in one point—in some particular command which pleases him—but ignore all the rest; yet a sincere heart stays close to the whole law in desire and action. The upright man’s foot is said to stand “in an even place”—he is sensitive to the will of God in its entirety (Psalm 26:12). But Solomon said “the legs of the lame are not equal” and cannot stand in an even place because one leg is long and the other is short (Proverbs 26:7).
The Pharisees, for example, pretended to have great zeal for some of the commandments. They fasted and prayed, but prayed for their prey, and when they had fasted all day they ate at the expense of the widow whose house they devoured.
