假冒为善的人所造成的另一种伤害，是当他的伪装滑落时，给教会带来的极大羞辱。圣经论到参孙时说：“他死时所杀的人比活着所杀的还多”（士16:30）。诚然，当一个假信徒被揭穿时，他对教会造成的破坏，远比他披着信仰外衣显得大有生命时还要大。此时，假冒为善的人等于把一根粗大的棍子递交在恶人手中，而这些人正愁找不到机会来伤害圣徒。当他们看到一个假信徒衣袖上的污垢时，便能极其迅速地在教会中制造分裂，并将这污名抹在所有信徒的脸上！
基督教的控告者会指着教会里的一个假信徒，便推论说所有的信徒都和他一样。当然，这种推理极其荒谬，就像我们仅仅因为在一堆银币中看到一枚黄铜假币，就断言所有的硬币都一文不值一样。然而，这恰恰是那些不敬虔的世人最爱说的话。那些假冒为善的人有祸了！因他们的虚伪为敌人制造了射向圣徒的暗箭。这样的人，倒不如脖子上拴着一块大磨石被扔进海里，也强如活着为神的仇敌提供亵渎的把柄。
正因为“纯全”能够遮盖基督徒的许多软弱，所以我们有几个重要的理由，必须仔细省察自己的心，看看在里面掌权的到底是诚实无伪，还是假冒为善。
你的永恒归宿，与是否拥有纯全息息相关。你的价值与结局，全系于你是否拥有它。它决定了你直到永远的成败。“耶和华啊，求你善待那些为善和心里正直的人。至于那偏行弯曲道路的人，耶和华必使他和作恶的人一同出去受刑。”（诗125:4-5）到了末日，假冒为善的人也会企图挤进敬虔人的行列，冒充圣徒，但神“必使他和作恶的人一同出去受刑”，因为那才是真正属于他的同类。

SINCERITY IS ESSENTIAL
Eternity depends on your sincerity. Your worth and destiny hang on whether or not you have it.
Another injury inflicted by the hypocrite is the scandal brought upon the church when his mask slips. Scripture says of Samson, “The dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life” (Judges 16:30). Truly the hypocrite does more damage when he is discovered than when he seemed to be alive in his profession of faith. The hypocrite then puts a big stick into the hands of the wicked who have been looking for a way to bruise the saints. How fast they can then cause division and smear the face of all believers with the grime they see upon one hypocrite’s sleeve!
Accusers of Christianity point out a hypocrite in church and reason that the whole group of believers is just like him. This is as absurd, of course, as to say that no coin is worth anything because we see one brass shilling among the silver. But this language fits the mouth of the ungodly world. And woe to the man’s hypocrisy which manufactures these arrows for them to shoot at the saints. It would be better if he had been thrown into the sea with a millstone about his neck than to live and provide occasions for God’s enemy to blaspheme.
Because sincerity covers all a Christian’s weaknesses, there are several important reasons why we should carefully search our own hearts to see whether sincerity or hypocrisy reigns there.
Eternity depends on your sincerity. Your worth and destiny hang on whether or not you have it. This is your making or marring forever. “Do good, O Lord,… to them that are upright in their hearts. As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity” (Psalm 125:4–5). The hypocrite will try to crowd in with the godly on that last day and pass for a saint, but God “shall lead him forth with the workers of iniquity,” company which is more his kind.
